What does freedom mean, how can it be defined? Is it all or nothing or can you can restrictions and still consider it freedom?

Freedom is a very thin line. You would hope that moral judgement would be enouh for people to survive and functionin society. However, its not that easy. People believe different things and will go to different lengths to protect that belief. So is making a law saying you will be punished if you kill someone else ok? What is the situation? Are they hurting you or a immediate threat to your life? or do they just disagree with your opinion? It is really hard to pinpoint what freedom is. There are laws and things that are supposed to protect society as a whole but the question is....is that really ok or not? I guess the true question is...how do YOU define Freedom?
